The William Church Name

The name William Church comes from both our fathers’ names.  Rod’s father’s name was William Edgar Balsley and John Church Lind is Leslie’s father.  The middle name Church was his mother’s maiden name and has been used among the Lind family as a middle name for many family members. We decided to name our winery after these important men that influenced our lives and to acknowledge the importance of our family in everything we do.

About Us

After many years in the high-tech industry Rod left in 2004 and began looking for his next challenge. He had been experimenting with home winemaking and decided that his passion was to make high quality premium wines that he could share with a broader audience. He and his wife, Leslie started to look into where to establish a winery and were surprised to find a booming wine industry practically in their backyard in Woodinville, Washington. After choosing the name William Church based on Rod's father's name and Leslie's father's middle name and consulting with some of the top wine-making talents in the industry our adventure began in 2005.

Creating exceptional wines using the highest quality grapes is what we want to achieve every time we produce a wine. Since so much of winemaking starts with the grapes we began our search for some of the best vineyards in the state. We believe we have found many of those sources using a combination of established vineyards and some up and coming newcomers.

Our challenge is to make excellent wines seeking out the best grapes and applying both rigorous winemaking standards with the artistry needed to produce an exceptional wine. We are excited to pursue this goal and we love the fact we can create a community around  those who enjoy our wines that we can really get  know and will follow us as we grow.  Thank you for your interest & support for us and William Church.
